A passionate team of Environmental Educators in conjunction with NRA Services, The Ted Brambleby Marine Museum and NorthStar Holiday Resort are committed to providing a real helping hand to teachers facilitating field work and relevant education sessions in Hastings Point.
Equipped with local knowledge of all coastal ecosystems our aim is to significantly raise the level of awareness of the ecological diversity of the local area. Using experienced and qualified local field guides and presenters combined with the resources of our state teaching faciltiy in conjunction with the Northstars on site purpose built accommodation and full catering package students and teachers will have the opportunity to experience first hand our local Rocky Shore, Mangroves, Sand dunes, Beach, Wallum heathland and Temperate forest ecosystems.
We specialize in these environments as they:
- Are easy to access, safe to investigate and in proximity to the on site accommodation and resource centre
- Relatively pristine and offer classical representation of their ecotype
- Can all be negotiated in a Day Visit or 1-3 Overnight field trip camps
- Present all the key parameters that enable schools and special groups to achieve syllabus or desired outcomes in several disciplines
The aims of our guided field trips are to:
- Corroborate and supplement school educational directions and syllabus outcomes across a broad age group spectrum from lower primary to Year 12, Undergraduate students, and TAFE
- Assist teachers in achieving their field study aspirations by providing immediate corroboration through on the doorstep practical field encounters in all 5 coastal benchmark ecosystems
For most camps student numbers fit across the 5 very comfortable spacious bunkhouses totalling 60 beds. Teachers and students are required to use a bunkhouse if available before other additional options are requested.
Two bedrooms with six bunks in each bedroom, two bathrooms and two separate showers. The air-conditioned bunkhouse has a stove, fridge, TV & DVD, Air-Conditioned, Foxtel and microwave however meals are not permitted to be prepared in the bunkhouses for school camps.
